September 13, 2019 – 7:30 pm – The Avery Viking Football team will host North Wilkes in non-conference action, the night will be a “Salute to Service” game for the Vikings.

September 19, 2019 – 6:30 pm – The Avery Lady Viking Volleyball team will host Madison in WHC Conference Play, JV action begins at 5 pm with Varsity to follow.

September 20, 2019 – 5:00 pm – Crossnore Elementary will hold their Fall Festival at the School. This will serve as a FUNdraiser for the School and all are invited to attend.

September 27, 2019 – 7:30 pm – The Viking Football team will travel to Cloudland to take on the Highlanders in non-conference action.

September 28, 2019 – 8 am to 12 noon – The Avery Viking Men’s Basketball team will hold a Fundraising Car Wash at CarQuest in Newland. Donations accepted.

September 28, 2019 – 3 pm – The Avery Viking Marching Band will host the Annual Viking Classic Marching Band Tournament at MacDonald Stadium.

October 5, 2019 – 4 pm to 8 pm – Avery High FFA will hold a Fundraising BBQ at Newland FBC, cost is $10/donation, and includes full meal, Chainsaw Giveaway will be drawn during the event. All are invited, for more information contact Dewayne Krege or Gretchen Blackburn at the High School.

October 11, 2019 – 7:30 pm – The Viking Football team opens conference play vs. Mountain Heritage at MacDonald Stadium.  This will be a Cancer Awareness Game for the Vikings.

October 25, 2019 – 7:30 pm – The Viking Football team will host Polk in WHC Action for Homecoming 2019.

November 1, 2019 – 7:30 pm – The Viking Football team hosts Owen High School for Senior Night at MacDonald Stadium.

November 8, 2019 – 7:30 pm – The Viking Football team travels to Mitchell to wrap up the 2019 regular season.

The SCOTTIE Mobile Pre-K (click for information) is out and about and if you have a child who would be eligible for the classes but are unable to attend Pre-K, this is a service of the Avery Public School System and Smart Start.  There are many locations throughout the county for folks to attend.  For more information or a full list of the SCOTTIE schedule, contact the Board of Education at 733-6006
