September 21, 2021 – BLOOD DRIVE – 9 am to 2 pm – Avery County High School is hosting a Blood Drive at the School in the new Commons Area at the new entrance. All welcome, antibody testing available.
September 24, 2021 – HOMECOMING – The Avery Vikings will host Draughn High School for Homecoming 2021. Schools will dismiss early for the parade, game time will be 7:30 pm at MacDonald Stadium.
September 25, 2021 – HARVEST FESTIVAL – 10 am to 4 pm – The Town of Newland will host the Harvest Festival on the Riverwalk, many vendors available, music and entertainment. All invited.
October 2, 2021 – 10 am to 3 pm – The Annual Toy Drive Car Show will take place in Newland, everyone welcome. Call Claude Buchanan for more information at 828-733-3558
October 2, 2021 – 6 pm – FUNDRAISER – Boone & Church Band will hold a fundraising concert at the new Ag. Community Center off Vale Road; proceeds raised will be used to send Ethan Church and Walker Boone to FFA National Competition in Indianapolis. Admission is free, donations accepted. October 9, 2021 – 4 pm – Buck Stove presents their 50th Anniversary Celebration and Salute to Veterans, Admission is free and all are welcome, bring your own chair; Singing will be The Primitive Quartet, Sideline, and Boone and Church. The SCOTTIE Mobile Pre-K is out and about and if you have a child who would be eligible for the classes but are unable to attend Pre-K, this is a service of the Avery Public School System and Smart Start.
