“Left Behind in the High Country” meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Oak Room of the Sloop Medical Building at Cannon Memorial Hospital. This is a support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, for more information contact Sandra Brock at 467-5379.

December 13, 2019 – 6 to 8 pm – Don’t miss the Caroling around the Bonfire, Friday, December 13 from 6 to 8 PM at the Tudor Vance Meeting House in Crossnore. There will be hot chocolate, cider and other goodies in the Meeting House. Hope you can be there!

December 14, 2019 – 6 pm – The Town of Newland will hold the annual Christmas Parade in town.

December 15, 2019 – 6 pm – Elk Valley Bapt. Church is holding Christmas Program at the Church.  All are welcome.

December 15, 2019 – 6:30 pm – Valley Haven Bapt. Church, Located on Hwy 184/Beech Mountain Parkway in Banner Elk, is holding their Christmas Program at the church, all are invited.

December 22, 2019 – 5 pm – Fellowship Baptist Church on Squirrel Creek will hold their Christmas Program at the church, all are welcome!

December 23, 2019 – 7 pm – Jonas Ridge United Methodist Church is holding an Old Timey Appalachian Mountain Christmas at the Church, celebrating the old-time mountain traditions.  All are welcome.

December 23, 2019 – 7 pm – Pastor Tommy Carver and Open Door Bapt. Church invite everyone to their annual Christmas Program at the church, all welcome.

December 24, 2019 – 6 pm – Newland Christian Church will hold their annual Christmas Eve program at the church, all are welcome.

The SCOTTIE Mobile Pre-K (click for information) is out and about and if you have a child who would be eligible for the classes but are unable to attend Pre-K, this is a service of the Avery Public School System and Smart Start.  There are many locations throughout the county for folks to attend.  For more information or a full list of the SCOTTIE schedule, contact the Board of Education at 733-6006
