The 2017 Avery County Cooperative Extension Plant Sale is going on now, you may contact the Cooperative Extension Service at 733-8270 for more information or by clicking here. Orders will be taken through April 7, 2017.
March 22, 2017 – 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm – There will be a Blood Drive at Avery County High School that will benefit Delana Davis and the Family of Caleb Hayes, Donors will receive sweatshirts and gift cards for their donations.
March 25, 2017 – 5 pm – There will be a Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction at the Newland Fire Dept. For Tickets and Information call 897-1049 or 457-5356
March 25, 2017 – 7 pm – There will be a special singing at God’s House of Worship in Banner Elk, singing will be the Dollar Brothers and Sacred Ground. All are invited.
March 26, 2017 – 6 pm – Pineola Bapt. Church will hold a special singing at the church with Faithful Hearts bringing the message in song. All are invited…free admission
March 26-29, 2017 – 6 pm Sunday, 7 pm M-W – REVIVAL – Stameytown Bapt. Church will hold revival at the church, all are welcome
March 28, 2017 – 7 pm – The Harlem Globetrotters will be in Boone at the Holmes Convocation Center on the Campus of Appalachian State University. For Tickets contact the Box office.
March 30, 2017 – Loaves and Fishes in Crossnore will hold a special fundraising night for the Hayes Family. 10 % of the Daily Sales and all tips and donations will be given to help pay medical expenses. Sponsored and served by the Youth from Johnson’s Chapel.
March 30, 2017 – 6 pm – If you have ever wanted to learn to garden or be a part of the Community Garden in Avery County, there will be an informational meeting with the Cooperative Extension Service. Location will be determined at a later date.
April 1, 2017 – 7 am to 10 am – Altamont Methodist Church will have our first country breakfast of the year on Saturday, April 1st from 7-10 AM. All your favorites will be back including country ham, sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy, grits, and homemade jams and jellies. This month’s proceeds will benefit the Avery County School Backpack Ministry
April 1, 2017 – 7 pm – David Phelps will be in concert at Ashe County High School with Special Guest Charlotte Ritchie, presented by Carpenter’s Son Productions and hosted by Midway Bapt. Church. April 8, 2017 – Easter Egg Hunt on the green at the Historic Banner Elk School. Games and music begin at 10:30, Egg Hunt at 11am. The SCOTTIE Mobile Pre-K (click for information) is out and about and if you have a child who would be eligible for the classes but are unable to attend Pre-K, this is a service of the Avery Public School System and Smart Start. There are many locations throughout the county for folks to attend. For more information or a full list of the SCOTTIE schedule, contact the Board of Education at 733-6006
Kindergarten registration will be taking place for Avery County Schools in the month of April. Please contact your local elementary school if your child will be 5 years of age on or before August 31, 2017. Dates of registration at each school are as follows. Each registration begins at 8:30 am.
