“Left Behind in the High Country” meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Oak Room of the Sloop Medical Building at Cannon Memorial Hospital. This is a support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, for more information contact Sandra Brock at 467-5379.

May 30, 2020 – 7 pm – Simple Faith will be in concert at Johnson Chapel in Newland, all are welcome to join them!
June 7, 2020 – 6 pm – Shellem Cline will be in concert at Roaring Creek Missionary Bapt. Church, It will be a Drive-in concert, weather permitting, all are invited. In case of inclement weather, the concert will move inside.
June 11, 2020 – 11:30 am until – The Manna Food Bank Community Market will take place in the parking lot of The Dive In (Newland Pool), will continue with the Drive Thru, Touchless System they have been using. CLICK HERE for more Information
June 13, 2020 – 10 am to 2 pm – Jonas Ridge Methodist Church will hold a food drive in the fellowship hall to collect food for Feeding Avery Families. Will be contact-less if needed for those who wish, pull in and someone will come out and get the items out of your car.

The SCOTTIE Mobile Pre-K (click for information) is out and about and if you have a child who would be eligible for the classes but are unable to attend Pre-K, this is a service of the Avery Public School System and Smart Start. There are many locations throughout the county for folks to attend. For more information or a full list of the SCOTTIE schedule, contact the Board of Education at 733-6006
