Every Sunday afternoon, the HWY 181 Motorcycle Rest Stop Ministry will be open from 12 noon to 6 pm offering refreshments to Bikers passing by. All welcome to come out, located at the old John Deere Dealership near the Parkway, open May through October.
Blue Ridge Partnership for Children is bringing Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to the High Country. The program serves children from birth until their 5th birthday, and each registered child will receive a FREE monthly book in the mail. If you are interested you can register your child online at http://www.imaginationlibrary.com or call Carrie Hall at 733-2899 and she will assist you in the registration process.
Fellowship Bapt. Church on Squirrel Creek will be accepting non-perishable food items to help feed the hungry in Flatwoods, West Virginia. Drop donations off at Fellowship Baptist Church, in the fellowship hall every Sunday starting October 25 through November 29, 2015 between 1pm and 4pm. November 26, 2015 – 12 noon to 2 pm – THANKSGIVING – Crossnore First Bapt. Church will be holding their annual Thanksgiving Meal at the church. Anyone who would like a traditional Thanksgiving Meal is welcome to join them at the church, Carry-Out plates also available. For all interested, please RSVP to the Church by calling 733-5243 by Friday November 13 so that they know how much food to prepare. Call after 5 pm and leave a message with Name, Phone Number, and How many will be attending.
Beginning November 27, and continuing on Fridays in the Month of December, Santa Claus will be at Snowy Mountain Christmas in Crossnore for Kids to come and have a time with Santa.

December 4-7, 2015 – 6:30 to 8:30 daily – Morganton Seventh Day Adventist Church will hold a Journey Through Bethlehem, an interactive, outdoor drama. The event is free and fun for the whole family; tours take 30 minutes, located at 2187 Jamestown Road in Morganton. For more information call 387-5728.
December 5, 2015 – ALL DAY – The Town of Banner Elk will hold their annual Christmas in the Park event will take place at Tate-Evans Park in Banner Elk; There will be Family oriented events all day with a Parade of Lights taking place around 5 pm and awards will be given. December 6, 2015 – 4 pm – The Pineola Ringers will hold a benefit concert at Pineola Presbyterian Church to raise money for Avery Project Christmas. All are welcome, concert is free, love offering will be taken.
December 9, 2015 – There will be a fundraiser to assist Kay Simerly, MCC Nursing Faculty who is battling cancer at Wake Forrest Medical Center, on Wednesday, December 9th. Bubba’s at Mayland Community College will serve a spaghetti lunch for $7.00, and $5.00 from every meal will go directly to Kay. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event. December 9, 2015 – 5:45-7:30 pm – FBC Newland Kids will be visiting the Cranberry House to sing Christmas Carols and do crafts with the residents.
December 16, 2015 – 6 pm – FBC Newland will hold a Family Christmas Event, “The Miracle of Jesus”; There will be a free supper from 5:15 to 6 pm and will be an interactive experience for the whole family. For more information contact Jessica Howard at 260-6730

The SCOTTIE Mobile Pre-K (click for information) is out and about and if you have a child who would be eligible for the classes but are unable to attend Pre-K, this is a service of the Avery Public School System and Smart Start.
