“Left Behind in the High Country” meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Oak Room of the Sloop Medical Building at Cannon Memorial Hospital. This is a support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, for more information contact Sandra Brock at 467-5379.

February 29, 2020 – 7 pm – The Avery County High School Players will present “9 to 5: The Musical” at the High School in the Mini Theater.  All invited. NOTE: The Feb. 28 Show has been cancelled, possibly will have an encore weekend in March.

February 29, 2020 – 2 pm to 5 pm – God’s House of Worship in Banner Elk will hold a Benefit Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser and silent auction; CLICK HERE for more information.

The SCOTTIE Mobile Pre-K (click for information) is out and about and if you have a child who would be eligible for the classes but are unable to attend Pre-K, this is a service of the Avery Public School System and Smart Start.  There are many locations throughout the county for folks to attend.  For more information or a full list of the SCOTTIE schedule, contact the Board of Education at 733-6006
