June 26, 2019 – 4:30 pm – The Avery County Cooperative Extension Service will be hosting an Apple Disease Class on Wednesday, June 26th. The class will be held at the Avery County Cooperative Extension Center (Heritage Park, 661 Vale Road, Newland) beginning at 4:30pm and concluding at 5:30pm. **FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS**
June 29, 2019 – 7 pm – The Pyatte Community will hold their Annual Fourth of July Celebration at the Community Center, Hot Dogs and Bingo until prizes run out, 50/50 wheel, and FIREWORKS at Dark. Donations toward meal and fireworks appreciated.
July 4, 2019 – The Annual 4th of July Car Show will take place in Newland.
July 5, 2019 – 5:30 pm to Midnight – The Town of Elk Park will hold their Independence Day Celebration. Parade will begin at 6 pm, night will conclude with fireworks and more. CLICK HERE for more information.
July 6, 2019 – 1 pm – The Minneapolis Community will hold their Independence Day festivities beginning with parade at 1 pm, lineup at 12:30 pm, followed by meal at the fellowship hall at Minneapolis Bapt. Church. Music at 7:30 pm with Skyland Ministries, and Fireworks at Dark.
July 6, 2019 – ALL DAY – The Town of Newland will hold their Annual 4th of July Celebration at the Riverwalk. Concluding with Fireworks at Dark. All are welcome.
July 6, 2019 – 10 am – The Town of Seven Devils Public Safety Committee will host the 16th Annual SafetyFest at the Town Hall. All are invited to come out, Live Music throughout the day, Craft Show from 10 am to 3 pm, Bar-B-Q from 11 am to 3 pm, Prizes every hour, Silent Auction, and more! All proceeds will go to benefit the Town’s Fire, Police, and Public Works departments, for more information call Town Hall at 828-963-5343

The SCOTTIE Mobile Pre-K (click for information) is out and about and if you have a child who would be eligible for the classes but are unable to attend Pre-K, this is a service of the Avery Public School System and Smart Start.
