Clogging Classes will be offered at the Historic Cranberry School for Children and Adults beginning on Tuesday, September 19 at 6 pm. Children’s Class will be 6 pm on Tuesdays, Adult Class on Thursdays at 6 pm.  Call Crissy Kasper for more information at 828-528-2655

“Left Behind in the High Country” will begin meeting September 21, 2017, at 6:30 pm, and will meet every other Thursday in the Oak Room of the Sloop Office Building. October 9-until, 2017 – 7 pm nightly – REVIVAL – Emmaus Road Bapt. Church will hold revival at the church with Rev. Charles Worley, all are welcome.

October 9-13, 2017 – 7 pm nightly – Pleasant Hill Bapt. Church will hold “A Mind for Missions” Conference at the Church. Evangelist Robert Jones of Anchor Bapt. Missions in Pisgah Forrest, NC will be preaching each evening. Pastor Allen Laws and the congregation invite everyone to come and fellowship with them. October 12, 2017 – 8:15 am to 4:15 pm – The Watauga County Cooperative Extension Service will hold a Professional Landscaper Day at the Watauga Agricultural Conference Center to provide all landscapers with a One Day re-certification day for all pesticide license.  Call 264-3061 for more information, cost is $10 to cover lunch and can be paid at the door.

October 14, 2017 – 8:30 am to 4 pm – Chestnut Dale Baptist Church would like to invite everyone to come help us celebrate our mountain heritage with our 22nd Annual HERITAGE DAY on Saturday, October 14th from 8:30a to 4p. Come join a day of fun and celebration of our heritage. We will have great food, live Gospel and Bluegrass music and will be making apple butter. We will have a display of antique vehicles. We will have a Fish Fry cooked by VJ & Judy Storie from 11a until 2p. Entertainment begins at 11a with Ernie Penley. Then Mercy’s River will join us at 1p. October 14, 2017 – 11 am to 2 pm – Yellow Mountain Enterprises invites you to come join them at Newland Riverwalk this Saturday, the 14th, for fun filled Fall Festival aimed at bringing more awareness to children & adults with disabilities . There will be free music as well as a free bounce house & slide for young ones. Come create Fall crafts, enjoy homemade bake goods and feast on hot dogs for lunch . Festival hours are  from 11-2:00.

October 14, 2017 – 2 pm – The Inaugural “Old Paths” Youth Rally will take place at Bethel Missionary Bapt. Church in Spruce Pine.  There will be Choir Practice for all Youth who would like to be in the Choir at 1 pm, preaching will be Barry Spear and Chad Watson, sponsored by Calvary Bapt. Church. All are welcome.

October 14, 2017 –  2 pm – The Roaring Creek Missionary Baptist Church will be hosting their First Annual “Singing By The Creek” this coming Saturday, October 14 at 2 PM. This will be an outdoor event so bring some chairs. Hotdogs and drinks will be provided. The featured gospel singers will be The Carver Family, The Blairs and Singing With Gladness. In case of inclement weather, the singing will be held in the church. A love offering will be taken.

October 21, 2017 – 9 am to 3:30 pm – There will be a women’s conference at Altamont UMC Outreach Center with Tammy Rentsch, speaker, teacher and author of “Always Pray & Don’t Give UP”  This will be a free event for women only.  Reservations are required for the event, you can sign up for half a day or the full day, contact Ann Hampton at 733-5912

October 21, 2017 – 1 pm until – The Blue Ridge Bluegrass Festival with Darin and Brooke Aldridge will take place at Buck Stove in Spruce Pine, performing during the event will be David Holt, The Surly Gentlemen, Unspoken Tradition, Whitewater Bluegrass, and more. October 21, 2017 – 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm – There will be a Pancake Supper at the Linville Falls Community Church with all proceeds going to the Linville Falls Church Scholarship Fund, all are welcome, cost is Donations.

October 26, 2017 – 10 am to 4 pm – Healthy Halloween will take place at the Rock Gym in Newland. All are invited to come out and take part.

October 29-unitl, 2017 – 6 pm Sunday, 7 pm M-W – REVIVAL – Revival services will be held at Belview Baptist Church in Newland starting on Sunday night October 29th at 6 PM. Preacher Mark Hollifield from Marion will be bringing the messages each night.

October 31, 2017 – 5 pm to 7:30 pm – Newland FBC will hold Trunk or Treat at the Church in the Gym. All are welcome.

**November 2017**

November 3, 2017 – 10 am to 6 pm – There will be a Christmas Market in the Gym of Newland FBC sponsored by the PEO Chapter CQ, lunch will be available from 11 am to 2 pm.  All are invited.

The SCOTTIE Mobile Pre-K (click for information) is out and about and if you have a child who would be eligible for the classes but are unable to attend Pre-K, this is a service of the Avery Public School System and Smart Start.  There are many locations throughout the county for folks to attend.  For more information or a full list of the SCOTTIE schedule, contact the Board of Education at 733-6006

October 11, 2017 – 6:30 pm – Avery County High FCA/UIC will hold Fields of Faith at MacDonald Stadium.  Everyone is welcome to come out for a great night of worship and fellowship.  Skyland Ministries will lead worship during the event. All are invited to come out and bring the community together to take a stand for Christ.

October 12, 2017 – 4 pm to 7:30 pm – Newland Elementary will hold a Fall Festival at the School, all are welcome. There will be fun for all ages, concluding with a Live Auction. Click Here for more information.
