The Annual Avery 4-H Christmas Tree Sale begins on Monday, December 4, at the Kohler Appliance Store in Newland. For more information contact the Cooperative Extension Service at 733-8270

“Left Behind in the High Country” meets every Other Thursday at 6:30 pm in the Oak Room of the Sloop Office Building. This group is a support group for anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide. For more information please call 828-467-5379 or 321-243-1640
December 15, 2017 – 6 pm to 9 pm – Don’t forget caroling around the bonfire on Friday, December 15, from 6 to 9 pm at the Crossnore Meeting House. Cider, hot chocolate and Christmas goodies will be served.
December 15-16, 2017 – 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm nightly – Journey Through Bethlehem at the Morganton Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2187 Jamestown Road, Morganton, N.C. Journey through the market place, hear wonderful Christmas hymns, see live farm animals and experience the true reason for the season, our Savior Jesus Christ! Each journey lasts approximately 30 minutes. Golf cart rides will be available for those with disabilities. This event is completely FREE for all who wish to attend!

December 24, 2017 – 6 pm – Newland Christian Church will hold their annual Christmas Eve Service at the Church, all are welcome.
January 7, 2017 – 9:30 am – Altamont United Methodist Church would like to announce a change in our current worship services to a blended contemporary/traditional service. This change in service will begin on January 7, 2018 at 9:30 am with Sunday School to follow at 10:30. There will be a time for coffee and fellowship from 9 to 9:30. Come join us for great worship and fellowship!

The SCOTTIE Mobile Pre-K (click for information) is out and about and if you have a child who would be eligible for the classes but are unable to attend Pre-K, this is a service of the Avery Public School System and Smart Start. December 12, 2017 – 4:30 pm – Avery Viking Basketball will host Watauga VARSITY ONLY, this will be the annual Teddy Bear Toss. Everyone invited to come out, dress up, and enjoy the evening.
December 21, 2017 – 4 pm – Avery Viking Basketball will host North Wilkes, this will be the annual Silent Night game for the Vikings. Everyone invited to come out, dress up, and enjoy the evening.
